The Q&A Archives: Umbrella Tree

Question: My Umbrella Tree's Leaves keep falling off. The plant started losing its leaves when I repotted it. I water it once a week.

Answer: Usually when a plant starts losing leaves it's because it's unhappy. Any time you repot a plant, it gets stressed for a little while. It may be losing leaves because of this stress. It may also be reacting to overwatering. Let the top inch of thesoil dry out before you water again. Plants need a lot less water, and you should water less frequently, in the winter time. When plants are actively growing in the spring and summer, they need a great deal more moisture. I'm sure it will recover.
