You can shape it by pruning so it will fit in the area. It flowers, but isn't overwhelmingly fragrant. Star Jasmine is another possiblility. If it flowers, it will be wonderfully fragrant. Cape Honeysuckle tolerates more shade than most, so perhaps it will fill the bill for you. You may just have to try one or two of these plants.
