The Q&A Archives: Can palms be divided?

Question: Can a

Answer: Kathy,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Yes you can do the operation to remove it. When you do place its base in some soil in a large container and keep the soil moist but not soggy. Place the plant in a very bright shade or perhaps with a little morning sun until it gets good roots and is able to then be planted somewhere in the landscape.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
