We had a HUGE problem with japanes beatles for the past few years. They eat all the follage off of everything we have. Luckily the plants make it from year to year but once the beatles come back, the plants are history. We have tried the normal pesticide thing but that only seems to help for a few days. Is there any kind of home remidy or something to help get rid of and/or prevent japanese beatles from attacking our yard??

Japanese beetles are an increasing problem and they are difficult to control because they can fly in from surrounding areas. Spraying with a neem based product can help to repel them, and treating the soil with beneficial nematodes can help reduce them by controlling them at the grub stage. Do not use the pheromone traps near your plants as they attract more than they repel. You may find that certain plants seem to attract them so you could consider adapting your plant selection with that in mind. Too, some years they are just worse than others depending on the weather conditions. I wish I could be more encouraging.
