| Ideally, you would run some basic soil tests to check the fertility and fertilize based on the test results. That way you would have the optimum amounts. However, as a rule of thumb you would topdress with good quality compost and use an organic mulch, these will help feed the soil slowly as they break down over time. Also apply a general purpose granular fertilizer or slow release granular fertilizer with an analysis of 10-10-10 or similar per the label directions. |
