Trumpet Vine (Campsis) is a vigorous climber that clings to surfaces with aerial roots. It can sucker and spread, so watch for renegade plants in adjacent flower beds or lawns. Trumpet Vines will grow in full sun or partial shade and need moderate water during the growing season. Since they're vigorous plants, regular feeding isn't necessary, but you can help supply a steady stream of nutrients to the plant by mulching the root area with several inches of organic matter like compost, aged manure,or leaf mold. Not only will the mulch supply nutrients, but it will help choke out weeds and keep the soil moist.
