Hello: Two weeks ago, I bought some roses. At that time, I gave it some plant food. Lately, the roses and leaves don't look as good as when I bought it. Although I'm leaving the soil within the container a little moist, I presume I should keep it on the dryer side. Please confirm. Although I don't know much about taking care of roses, I would like to take a class and wondered if Home Depot offers such a class; if yes, do you happen to know when. Thank you so much...it's greatly appreciated! J |
You may be keeping the soil a little too moist. I'd water only after the top half-inch of soil dries out. Roses love sunshine so place yours where they will get all day sun. If you intend to keep it in a container, either put the nursery container in a larger decorative container, or shade the nursery container from direct sunshine. Hot sun can bake the roots of your plant. Home Depot does have different classes, but not all retailers offer the same classes. You might try contacting your local Master Gardener program or garden club for a list of garden related classes in your area. You might be surprised at the wealth of workshops available. Best wishes with your new gardening adventure! |
