There are quite a few orchid books in bookstores and you may want to look through a few to see if they seem to be providing the information you need. As far as shade goes you can put up shadecloth. It comes in a wide variety of densities from 35% shade to 75% shade so you can choose the amount the particular plants you want to grow prefer. Thanks for the question.
