Can I leave the clematis in a pot or should I plant it?

Based on my experience I would recommend planting in the ground as soon as possible. This is a large vine and will have a large root system at maturity. Leaving it in a container could stunt it. Select a location with full sun and evenly moist yet well drained soil -- and with a support for the vine to climb on. Clematis usually take about three yers to become fully established and rooted and bloom their best. Enjoy your clematis!
