I planted tulips last year and they bloomed, large flowers, this year, nothing. I dug the bulbs and I found small bulbs instead of the big hybrid bulbs but they are 3x more than what I planted. What happened? Can I still plant the bulbs? |
What you found were offsets from mature tulip bulbs. I don't know what happened to the parent bulbs. They may have desintegrated over the winter months due to age or soil conditions. In any event, plant the small bulbs about twice as deep as they are wide. They should produce leaves next year but may not be mature enough to flower. They should flower their second year. Enjoy! |
