I would like to plant althea and privets together to make a privacy fence. I spaced the althea 4 feet apart. I just don't know if they will grow to close the gap. I thought of putting privets between. Would this look okay?

Spaced 4' apart, your rose-of-sharon shrubs should fill in to create a nice privacy screen. You can place privets in front of the althea for a deeper privacy screen whick will also muffle sounds, but adding privets to your landscape really isn't necessary.

Best wishes with your landscape!
