Hi, I have recently put up a white trellis around my patio and would like to plant Ivy all around, do I keep the ivy in pots and hang from trellis or plant it in the ground so as to climb up.

Ivy tends to overtake everything if allowed to grow uncontrolled. I would plant the ivy in containers, sink the containers in the ground and then train the ivy up over the trellis. The ivy will look like it's coming from the ground but you'll have complete control over it and it won't be so apt to overtake your entire garden.

Best wishes with your garden!
