Last year I bought two hibiscus plants (or trees?) I planted each in a large outdoor pot, and they did nicely on my patio. In the fall I brought them into my garage. Now they have a few small leaves sprouting from the bottom of the branches. Should I cutthe branches back, or leave them? How can I care for the plants so they return to be as beautiful as last year?

Prune about a third of the old wood down each spring to keep your hibiscus growing vigorously, and to shape the plant so it's attractive. If you pinch out the tips of the branches in the spring and summer, the plant will bloom more abundantly. Expectit to begin blooming about mid-summer.
