| Ihave a draena massangeana(corn plant)when I bought it I replanted it & did not use the old dirt because I didnt know I was suppose to use it also. Then I found out I was over watering it. It likes to be watered monthly. The leaves are half brown & I would like to know what I should do to bring it back to life. It does still have a few green leaves. |
| Plants take time to adjust to changes in their growing conditions. Since your plant has had several shocks, I would suggest you wait and see how it responds. Unfortunately, there is no set schedule to watering and in summer, watering monthly might be a little too infrequent. I would suggest you dig down and feel the soil with your finger to see when you need to water. When the soil is dry about an inch down, then you would water. When you water, apply it slowly and thoroughly and allow any excess to run out the bottom, then empty the drainage saucer. If the potting mix you used included fertilizer in it, do not fertilize yet. If it did not, you could fertilize with a water soluble fertilizer formulated for foliage plants such as 10-10-10 plus minors. Use the lower rate on the label and feed every other week from spring through fall. You can trim off browned sections of foliage as the browned parts will not grow any more. The green foliage is a good sign. Hopefully you will see new green foliage growing from the top soon. Good luck with your plant! |
