The winter hardy hibiscus shrub is Hibiscus syriacus. "Blue Satin" is a named variety of H. syriacus and is considered winter hardy into zone 5. Your zip code places you in zone 5A or the coldest part of zone 5. Since that is the edge of winter hardiness, plant it in a location with some protection from the winter wind and be sure to mulch generously over the root area in late fall. Also be sure the planting site is well drained. Enjoy your shrub!
