Grapes need a location with full sun all day long, well drained soil, and good air circulation. You also need to plan how you will trellis or support the vine so you can install that at planting time. Dig a large and wide planting hole to accommodate the rootball and encourage rooting into the surrounding soil. Set the plant at the same depth as it is growing now, no deeper. Loosen or cut any encircling roots. Firm the soil around it, then water deeply to settle any air pockets. Mulch over the root area with several inches of organic mulch in a flat layer. Do not allow it to touch the stem. Water as needed to keep the soil slightly moist like a wrung out sponge, not sopping wet and never dried out. Good luck with your grape vine!
