We're putting in new grass, and we're having a party on the 19th (in about two weeks). Is it fine to let the guest walk on it if we stay off of it before and after the party? In other words, will one night hurt it?

If you're putting in new sod, you should keep traffic at a minimum for at least two weeks after installation. If you're seeding a new lawn, the grass seeds will take 7-10 days to germinate and then another 3-4 weeks before it's strong enough to endure foot traffic. I'd either postpone putting in a lawn until after your party or keep guests off the sod during the party.
