We are in the process of installing a stone patio in our back yard and would like a more natural look with grass or some other ground cover between the stones. What kind of grass would be best, the area is sunny most of the day it would be a traffic area with table and chairs on it. We are looking for something that would be soft to walk on and would require the least amount of mowing possible. Thank you for any suggestions.

Grass probably isn't the best choice from the standpoint of maintenance. Plus, grass will be stressed when having to deal with reflected and radiated heat from the stones. A better choice is wooly thyme. This plant is a natural for between stones; it softens the edges, never needs mowing and will produce tiny little blooms during the summer months.

Best wishes with your new patio!
