I have 2 gardenia plants that I bought last year. Did not bloom last year, only have 1 blossom on one plant this year, the other I think is dying. Still have them in large planters. Do they need lots of sun, or part-shade, and also what about fertilizing. Can't find any information on growing them. Thanks!

Grayce,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Gardenia would prefer morning sun and some afternoon shade to part shade. They need soil that is well drained but moist, not dry. Fertilize with a soluble product for acid loving plants such as Miracid following the label rate.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
