I live in PA and I want to have year round potted plants, which type of flowering plants in a pot would do good in cold climate? Thanks |
Unfortunately it is difficult to grow plants outdoors in pots year round, even if they are normally winter hardy in your area. The reason is that the roots are not as well insulated from the cold as they would be if planted in the ground. They are also more prone to drying out due to the small soil volume and restricted roots. If you want to experiment, you might try dwarf Alberta spruce. However even these very hardy plants tend to be short lived in containers. |
