The size, color, texture of the blue girl and boy holly would be perfect for my front foundation planting which gets full sun until the afternnoon and then shade. The bed is on the south side of my house and is fairly protected from harsh winds. Do you think I would have any success with them here since they are not highly recommended for this zone?

These hollies are certainly recommended in your zone. They have good winter cold tolerance but are rated for winter hardiness zones 5-9. They also have good summer heat tolerance and can be grown in heat zones 1-9. Winter wind protection is important, and afternoon shade is fine.
