Most vines prefer a full sun location and will grow towards the sun in a mixed situation, so keep that in mind when you decide where to plant it along the arbor. You might try clematis if you have a smaller arbor, or wisteria if you have a very large and sturdy arbor. For fastest growth, annual vines such as morning glories might be a good choice although the flowers close at dusk every day.
