The Q&A Archives: Fertilizing a Lemon Tree

Question: I live in Los Alamos, NM. This past Christmas, I brought a potted 3' Meyer's Lemon back from California. I know I have to bring it indoors over the winter months. But how do I fertilize it? So far it is healthy -- dark green leaves and severallemons, although it is not in an active bloom cycle right now.

Answer: Use a complete fertilzer (balanced N-P-K, the 3 numbers on every package of fertilizer) that also contains good amounts of iron chelates and zinc. Apply 3-6 times a year, depending on pot size, tree size, and formula of fertilzer.
