I just fed my persimon tree with citrus fertilizer about two days ago and I noticed the leaves are starting to fall off. What may be the reason?

Citrus fertilizer is just fine for persimmon trees but I wonder if you over-fed? Sounds like fertilizer burn to me. You may be able to flush the salts out of the soil to keep further damage at bay. Flood the soil, allow to drain, then flood it a second time. With any luck, you'll get most of the root burning salts out of the soil. Next time you fertilize, use only 1/3 of the recommended amount and make three separate applications, spaced 3-4 weeks apart. This will ensure you won't burn the roots.

Best wishes with your persimmon tree!
