If we plant new St. Augustine grass, which is supposed to be resistant to the decline, and leave the old grass which has St Augustine decline, will the new grass be affected?

Sharon,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

You can plant a new resistant variety of St. Augustine grass into the decline infected turf and the new grass will not be affected.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
