The Q&A Archives: 2 shades of Lawn

Question: I have a Lawn that I just started to work on and I put down the Scott Starter Fertilizer and some seed. But I noticed that I have 2 shades of grass. 1 is a very nice of dark green and the other is a lighter shade of green. How do I fix this?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Answer: What to do depends on what you are really seeing. Based on your description you probably have two different kinds of grass growing in your lawn. Or, you may have applied fertilizer unevenly, or lime may have been applied unevenly. You might want to consult with your local county extension as to what you are seeing.
