| Verbena 'Snowflurry' (Perennial Verbena) grows in zones 5-8. It grows to 12" tall. (formerly sold as V. canadensis 'White') This semi-upright, white-flowered verbena is a virtual flowering machine, with the heaviest flowering in spring and fall...it also comes true from seed. VERBENA canadensis (rose verbena) is also hardy in zone 5. Bright lavender flowers all summer on 8-10" native ground cover with a 15-18" spread. VERBENA 'Miss Anne' PPAF Provides a continuous show of large pure white flower heads above fine textured dark green lemon-scented foliage. Fast growing, with a mounded habit in the landscape or containers. Height 10", width 12". VERBENA stricta `Prairie Candles' Rare white form of a showy spiked Great Plains native, 12-30" tall. Long-blooming, with many snow-white inflorescences per stem. Somewhat wooly leaves make this erect hardy perennial adaptable to xeric conditions. You can try to overwinter a less hardy verbena by mulching over the top of the plant after the first frost. If you can keep the roots from freezing solid, it may come back the following spring. I think it's worth a try! |
