The gardenia that I have does not seem to like what I have done to it. It is in a pot and some of the leaves are turning yellow and there are some white spots on the lower leaves. Can you tell me the best place and care to give it. thanks

Norman,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Your plant may be suffering from dry or soggy wet soil conditions. It also may be affected by whiteflies which appear as spots on the lower leaves in their pupal form. Take a sample to your Parish Extension Office for confirmation. Then is this is correct try a spray of horticultural oil directed upward to thoroughly coat the lower leaf surfaces.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
