Answer: Removing shrubs by digging or pulling them up by the roots can be quite a large job, depending on the size of the shrub. To dig them out you would cut the shrub off short near the ground using loppers, a saw, or chainsaw as needed to cut through the stems or trunks. Then dig out the roots using a sharp spade, shovel and/or possibly a mattock or even a hatchet as needed to cut through the woody roots.
