You're in gardening zone 9 and while alstroemeria is hardy to your zone, it will perform best when given afternoon shade. Instead of alstromeria, how about planting Salvia, also called Sage. These evergreen shrubs with fragrant foliage to 4 feet tall, produce flowers spring to fall in a range of colors from reds to blues. Some species are frost sensitive. Or, Lavendula angustifolia, English Lavender, an evergreen mounding shrub, 3 to 4 feet wide and high, producing lavender flowers in summer. Use as an accent plant, as a rounded hedge row or in rock gardens.

Best wishes with your landscape!
