The Q&A Archives: I purchased a Yellow Delicious Apple Tree, does it self pollentate?

Question: I bought the tree, a semi dwarf yellow delicious, and it does not say anywhere if it self pollentating. Can you advise?

Answer: Golden Delicious is somewhat self fruitful, but it is recommended to have another apple cultivar available as a pollen source. This can be a nearby crabapple, wild apple or orchard type of apple. Keep in mind that if you live in a neighborhood with trees around you, you may not need to plant a second kind of apple -- there may be a suitable tree available nearby.
