Answer: You can plant hydrangea's in a pot, but the plants eventually get quite large. If you prune it back to keep it small, it probably won't flower. If you have a choice, plant it in the ground where it will get morning sun and afternoon shade. If that isn't an option, choose a large (15-gallon or larger) container. The roots will grow into the shape of the container so it doesn't matter whether it's tall and skinny or short and fat.
