There are many newer cultivars of "sun coleus" that actually need at least some sun to maintain their best coloring. These can be planted in full sun all day (in Pennsylvania). These are specially grown from cuttings and are usually displayed by retailers in a special group or with other sun loving plants; many have the word sun or solar in the series name. The seed grown coleus such as "Wizard" or "Kong" will not handle full sun like that. I hope this answers your question.
