Where do you plant azaleas for the best growth? I have one on the side of my house that is in shade and receives afternnon sun, but is not doing well. |
Most azaleas grow best in full shade or morning sun and afternoon shade. If yours is getting afternoon sun, it won't be very happy. Try to find a spot sheltered from afternoon sun. Before replanting, amend the new site with some peat moss (azaleas love acidic soil). Simply spread 3-4" of peat over the planting area and dig it in to a depth of 8-10 inches. Then replant your azalea and water it well to help settle the soil. I think you'll see a big change in a short time. Best wishes with your garden! |
