will cantalope and watermelon grow in a sand and dirt mixed area?

Sandy soils drain quickly so watering frequently is the only concern. As long as the area gets at least 8 hours of sunshine a day, and as long as you water as often as necessary to keep the plants from wilting, they should grow fine in a sandy loam.
