The Q&A Archives: Are my roses dead??

Question: I bought my roses at Home Depot last year. I don't see ANY visible growth on them. Are they dead??

Answer: You should certainly see new leaves on your roses about the same time as other plants are waking up from their winter's nap. If you see nothing, perhaps winter weather killed the plants. You can try pruning them back to see if the roots have enough energy to produce foliage. If not, you may have to replace your rose bushes.
