I have an almost 8 year old tree in my front yard. The problem I'm having is that 2-3 times during the warm months I have to trim off branches at the base of this tree. It's almost as if the roots are shooting up and becoming first twigs & then tree branches if they aren't trimmed off. What causes this & how can I prevent it other than trimming off when they grow. Thank you. |
Unfortunately, some trees and shrubs produce lots of suckers from their roots. This is their way of colonizing an area. There's nothing you can do to stop trees from suckering so you'll just have to resign yourself to pruning them off (or mowing them down) when they appear. Wish I had better news for you! |
