I want to plant shrubs along the front of my house which receives little sun due to a large maple tree that shades & it being the Northern side of the house. I already have an azalia which is partially white & fushia, along with a flower bed with tulips, lilies, daffodils & other spring bulbs. Would holly bushes be a good choice which would also feed the variety of birds that gather?

Holly bushes might be a good choice as long as there is at least bright dappled sun there. If you are able to grow azaleas, then hollies should also do well in similar soil conditions. Another shrub to consider for a shady area might be summersweet (Clethra alnifolia). Enjoy your landscaping!
