The Q&A Archives: Soft Water

Question: We recently had A soft water unit put in our House. We were told By a Neighbor that we were gonna kill all our Plants and Vegs because of the Soft water. Is this True?? Our System has Potassium not salt, to soften the Water.
Waiting Patiently for an answer! Thank You !

Answer: Plants don't really care whether the water is soft or hard so I don't think your neighbor is incorrect. However, it is rather wasteful from an economic standpoint to treat the water prior to using it in your landscape. You might check with the installer - typically they leave one outside spigot untreated so you're not wasting the softened water on your landscape.
