The Q&A Archives: my tomato plants

Question: Last year huge horn worms devoured my tomato plants while I was away for 5 days. What is the most effective way to stop that from happening this year? Thank you, Will Whiteman

Answer: Hornworms do eat fast, don't they! Firstly, just because you had this problem last year does not mean you will have it again this year. You could try treating the plants with Bt (active ingredient in products such as Dipel) just before you leave, and ask a gardening friend to check on them while you are gone.
