Chamaecyparis pisifera ?Cyano Viridis? or Boulevard Sawara Falsecypress
generally does well in a sunny location with evenly moist yet well drained, acidic soil. Select a location with protection from sweeping winter winds. Dig a planting hole three times wider than the rootball and about the same depth. Loosen the soil on the sides of the planting hole. Set the plant in the hole and loosen or cut any encircling roots. The plant should sit at the same depth as it sits in the container, no deeper. Refill the soil, then water thoroughly to settle any air pockets. Mulch with several inches of organic mulch; the mulch should be spread in a flat layer over the root area but should not touch the trunk or stems of the plant. Water as needed to keep the soil slightly moist like a wrung out sponge from now through fall.
