DO I FERTILISE WITH LIME TO KEEP THE TREE HEALTHIER OR STOP THE LEAVES FROM FALLING? |
The evergreen magnolia trees normally drop a certain amount of older foliage in the spring. This is a natural occurrence. Leaving the dropped leaves in place along with mulching year round with an organic mulch helps to feed the soil; it also helps keep the soil evenly moist -- which is what this tree prefers. This tree needs an acidic soil so please do not lime under or near it, lime would reduce the acidity. There is really nothing you can do to stop the leaf drop. |
