I am hanging window boxes for the first time. Can you leave the flowers in the cartons to retain moisture?

If the plants are in large containers (about the size of a one-gallon nursery container),you can leave them in the container and set the containers in your window box. However, if they are in little 4 or 6 inch pots, there won't be enough root room for them and they will die in mid-summer. Either transplant them directly into your window box, or transplant them into one-gallon sized containers. Best wishes with your new window boxes!
