| Hello Gardenplace, I put tropical because I think that is basically where a Bougainvillea would be. Years ago I had a beautiful and unique Bougainvillea stolen from me when I lived in Baton Rouge, LA. This B. was basically gold bracts but what made it unique, it looked as though someone had splashed the gold bracts with fuchsia paint. Off and on I search the Internet hopping to find another plant like it to replace it. I have never seen another one like it: It truly was unique. If you have seen one like this or know of a grower that may have one like it I would like to know. Also, since bougainvillea's do not make seed but I have read they somehow mutate to form new varieties, how does one make or encourage the plant to mutate? I have a couple of lavender shades, a gold, and a pink. Whatever you know that may help in my search I would appreciate. Thank you. Respectfully, Robert C. Paul |
| Robert, I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up! There is not a way to encourage a mutation as you described, however maybe we can direct you to a source that would have a variety that fits your description.
