I was just given some beautiful containers for my deck and would like to plant them with perennials. What plants would you suggest?

You'll want to fill your containers will potting soil rather than garden soil. Here are a few suggestions for planting:

Classic Blue, Silver & White Combo Pot
Mandevilla 'Alice du Pont' - Standard or Plectranthus argentea
Scaevola 'Blue Wonder'
Zinnia 'Crystal White'
Nierembergia white and blue
Petunia integrefolia white
Plectranthus marginatus or Helichrysum petolare


Container Planting for Shade
Fuchsia 'Gartenmeister' Standard
Dicentra eximia
Begonia richmond alba
Heuchera 'Plum Pudding'
Coleus 'Compact Red'
Impatiens dark pink
Aspenidum bulbiferum


Container Planting for Sun
Pennisetum rubra or Phormium - 'Bronze Beauty' or Musa 'Bloodleaf'
Alternathera 'Purple Select'
Lantana 'Light Yellow'
Coleus (dark upright)
Abutilon Souvenir de Bonn
Centaurea gymnocarpa
