| LAST YEAR I PLACED ONE OF THOSE BATTERY DRIVEN NOISE MAKERS, AND IT SEEMED TO WORK TO A DEGREE. LATER THAT YEAR I TRIED ONE OF THOSE POISON PELLETS AND APPLIER. BOY WAS THAT A MISTAKE, IT SEEMED IT DREW THEM FROM THE WHOLE PASTURE LAND. THIS YEAR I HAVE THEM EVERYWHERE. THEY ARE IN MY VEGETABLE GARDEN, RAISED BED VEGIES. I HAVE ALMOST 3 ACRES. THEY ARE AROUND MY WOOD PILE, RV SHELTER, ROSE GARDEN, I'VE EVEN TRIED GARLIC, THAT ONLY WORKS LOCALLY, JUST AROUND THE ELECTRIC POLE. THE STRANGE THING IS, WHATEVER IT IS MAKEING ALL THE TUNNELS, HAVE NOT EATEN ANY PLANTS, YET..............JUST TUNNELS AND MOUNDS. IT'S A LITTLE HARD TO FILL UP THE BASINS AROUND MY TREES, CAUSE THE WATER GOES DOWN ALL THE TUNNELS. I HEARD SOMEONE SAY TO RUN A HOSE DOWN THE HOLES ATTACHED TO MY EXHAUST PIPES. I'M AT A TOTAL LOSS, NOT TO MENTION I'M ON A LIMITED INCOME, AND REALLY FRUSTRATED........CAN YOU HELP???????????? |
| Although there are lots of reported remedies for getting rid of gophers, including plants and homemade concoctions, nothing really works except trapping the creatures. Gophers and moles feed on grubs and other insects in the soil. As long as you have healthy soil teaming with beneficial insects and their larvae, you'll have the potential for attracting gophers. To get rid of gophers, invest in a scissors-type gopher trap, and set it carefully - as often as necessary to catch and kill the entire population. Once you've gotten rid of the gophers, encourage your neighbors to do the same. If it's any consolation, gophers in your yard are a compliment to your skills as a gardener. They prefer rich, moist, organic soil teeming with insects! |
