The Q&A Archives: Leaves turning yellow

Question: What does it mean when the leaves turn yellow to much water or not enough water

Answer: This depends somewhat on which kind of plant you have. Over and underwatering can cause similar symptoms. As a rule of thumb, I would say yellowing beginning at the bottom of the plant means too much water or poor drainage. (Some plants can yellow in response to other kinds of soil problems as well as in response to pest or disease issues.)
