I have a brick wall that does not get much sun. I would like to grow some type of vine or plant up it. It would have to be in a container, since it is pavement. Do you have any suggestions? What would I do with it during the winter months? |
Unfortunately, most vines really need full sun all day or for at least half the day to grow and bloom well. You might be able to grow an English ivy on a topiary frame as a container specimen and bring it indoors each winter as a houseplant. Or, you could store it in a cool place with temperatures above freezing but below about 45 degrees, possibly an unheated basement or garage. Water just enough to keep the soil from drying out completely while it is resting. Another option might be to set up a plant rack or hanging containers and fill them with impatiens for flowers all summer. I hope this gives you some ideas. |
