I purchased and planted 4 new Austrian Black Pines (4'-5') at Home Depot last month.

What is the proper schedule for watering these new trees in soil that has clay here in southeastern Denver,CO?

Thanks,

Ed

You'll want to water deeply once each week to help the roots of your new pine become well established. I find the best way to do this is to build a watering well or basin directly beneath the plant by mounding up a few inches of soil. Fill the basin, allow to drain, then fill a second time. This will concentrate the moisture directly over the root mass, allowing it to trickle down and wet the entire root mass each time you water. Once a week should do it - twice a week if the weather is really hot.

Best wishes with your new pine!
