The Q&A Archives: Eucalyptus Tree

Question: I planted a eucalyptus tree a few years ago. It died back, but the root is still in the ground. How will I recognize it from the weeds in it's early stages if it starts growing, if it starts to come back? We may be cutting it down with the other weeds etc.

Answer: Since you know where the eucalyptus was originally planted, why not drive a stake into the ground or surround the area with a cylinder of chicken wire or hardware cloth? This way if something green sprouts up, you'll know it could be the tree and not some weedy growth.

Best wishes with your landscape!
